Job Purpose

The selected candidate will be responsible for connecting farmers who need mechanization services with machinery owners and service providers who have available machines.

The person will play a key role in building the local network of farmers, machinery owners, operators, mechanics and other stakeholders and making the MSC a profitable business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Farmer Network Development

• Build and maintain a database of farmers who require mechanization services.

• Regularly visit farmers and understand their machinery requirements.

• Generate demand for mechanization services through phone calls, field visits and local networking.

• Explain the benefits and costs of mechanized services to farmers.

• Follow up with farmers to ensure satisfactory service delivery.

2. Machinery Service Provider (MSP) Network

• Identify and onboard machinery owners and service providers in the area.

• Maintain updated information on their machines, availability, service areas and pricing.

• Develop strong relationships with MSPs and machinery operators.

• Match suitable MSPs with farmers based on location, machine type, timing and service requirements.

3. MSC Operations

• Manage the day-to-day activities of the Mechanization Service Center.

• Maintain records of farmer demand, machine availability, bookings and completed services.

• Coordinate scheduling between farmers and MSPs.

• Monitor service quality and resolve operational problems.

• Ensure that the MSC operates efficiently and contributes to business profitability.

4. Machinery & Technical Coordination

• Develop a basic understanding of agricultural machinery and its applications.

• Help farmers identify the appropriate machinery for different agricultural operations.

• Coordinate with mechanics and technical personnel when machinery-related problems arise.

• Support machinery demonstrations and field trials when required.

5. Business Development

• Identify new opportunities for mechanization services in the local market.

• Develop relationships with farmer groups, cooperatives, dealers, contractors and other agricultural stakeholders.

• Monitor local market prices and competitor activities.

• Support iFarmer in developing new services and revenue opportunities.

Educational Qualification

• Diploma/BSc in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Science, or a related discipline.

• Candidates with strong practical experience in agricultural machinery sales may also be considered.

Experience

• 2–3 years of relevant experience in agricultural machinery sales, farm mechanization, agri-business, field operations, sales or a related sector.

• Experience working directly with farmers will be an advantage.

• Experience with tractors, power tillers, combine harvesters, reapers, transplanters or other agricultural machinery will be highly preferred.
